Be the Light This Giving Tuesday: Bringing Health and Healing to Vipingo, Kenya

Be a light for orphans, children, and widows, this Giving Tuesday

In the heart of Vipingo, Kenya, lives are being transformed through faith, hope, and love. Yet, the challenges remain immense. Over 60% of children in Vipingo are malnourished, and 27% of mothers lose their babies within the first year of life. These heartbreaking statistics represent families struggling without access to basic healthcare, education, or clean water.

This Giving Tuesday, Mercy’s Light Family is stepping up to shine a light on these challenges—and we’re inviting you to be a part of this life-changing mission. Together, we can save lives by funding a medical container project that will bring hope, health, and healing to this underserved community.

The Need for a Medical Container

Imagine being a young mom with no access to prenatal care, giving birth without medical support, or navigating early motherhood without knowledge of safe practices. In Vipingo, these are the daily realities for many women.

The medical container will be a vital resource for this community, addressing urgent healthcare needs and providing essential services such as:

  • Prenatal and Postnatal Care: Regular checkups, safe birthing practices, and post-birth support will drastically reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.
  • Health Education: Moms will learn how to prevent avoidable tragedies like cutting natal teeth or removing throat tissue—cultural practices that have claimed too many young lives.
  • Clean Water Access: A well and solar water pump will provide clean water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation, reducing the spread of diseases.
  • Vaccinations and Treatments: Children will receive vaccinations, and families will have access to basic medical care for illnesses and injuries.

A Beacon of Hope

This project is more than just medical care—it’s a pathway to empowerment. With the medical container, we’ll create a sustainable system that equips women and families to thrive physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Women like Zoe, a participant in our programs, will no longer have to fear for their children’s lives due to lack of resources. Instead, they’ll gain the tools they need to create brighter futures for their families.

How You Can Be the Light

This Giving Tuesday, we’re aiming to raise $29,000 to fund the medical container, clean water, and vital supplies for prenatal care. Here’s how your gift will be used:

  • $1,000: Half of a container medical suite.
  • $3,000: A well for sanitation.
  • $5,000: Fabrication and outfitting of a women’s toilet container.
  • $25, $250, or $2,500: Every gift, big or small, helps us get closer to saving lives.

Why Now?

We already have doctors donating land to house this project, and we’ve established deep relationships within the community. We also have a matching grant which turns a donation of $5,000 into $10,000.

All we need is your support to turn this vision into reality. Together, we can break the cycle of preventable deaths and bring lasting change to Vipingo.
