Day 5 in Kenya was all about moving forward—planning the vocational center, reconfiguring project models, finishing key projects like the wall
Today started early—not much sleep again! I missed the Brewers game because of no Wi-Fi here in Kenya, but I got to catch up in spirit while praying—and they WON! Go Brewers! ⚾
I spent some quiet time on the veranda for Bible study and devotional time, one of my favorite spots in all the world. Even in the rainy Mombasa morning, it was the perfect place to center my heart on God before a busy day.
Our main focus today was moving forward with our business incubation and vocational park. We reviewed plans for what we hope will be a four-floor vocational center.
Over the next few days, we’ll be getting quotes to bring this plan to life.
Before moving forward, we need to finish the wall ($1,300 + a container) in the space designated for a drive-through coffee/bakery shop. Excitingly, the funds for this wall have already been fully raised on the Kenyan side—a huge blessing, especially given the current economic climate!
Skyler and I also reconfigured some of the 3D model he created for the container park to align with how the wall was built.
After site work, we waited for the van inspection and got the backup camera working—another small but meaningful win!
Lunch was quick, followed by a much-needed nap—finally some real rest.
Later, we ran errands on the way back to Vipingo: Milele pick-up, sugar and milk, and even WD-40! The day ended with a delicious dinner from Kazungu: chicken, spaghetti, and spinach—a perfect way to refuel after a full day.
Moving forward requires planning, prayer, and perseverance. Today was full of small wins, important decisions, and vision-casting for the future of Mercy’s Light Family and our vocational projects.
And yes—still praying for more sleep!
PS: Go Brewers! Let’s sweep the Cubs and go all the way! 🧹⚾
