Join Carrie on Day 4 in Kenya as the team engages in staff Bible study
We began the day with delicious eggs and devotional time together, setting our hearts and minds on Christ before diving into the busy schedule ahead.
After breakfast, we viewed neighboring properties to help organize plans for our May and June 2026 trips—preparing for the next season of ministry work and mission visits.
Next, we headed to Mercy’s Light Family for our weekly staff Bible study, an important tradition that keeps Christ at the center of all we do.
Today, we studied Exodus 15, reflecting on the Israelites’ journey and their response to bitter water at Marah. We sang a song honoring God’s many attributes, shared personal reflections, celebrated successes, and lifted up prayer requests together.
I spent some time in the Mercy’s Light Souvenir Shoppe, organizing and planning next steps. I also spoke with Mary about the Shoppe and other aspects of the Upendo Fabrics business, which is growing beautifully and holds exciting potential for the future.
Later, I had one-on-one time with Winnie, our manager and social worker, catching up on pending matters and discussing a few new priorities. A follow-up meeting with Jocelyne and Winnie focused on finding solutions for a specific baby’s situation—always keeping the children’s best interests at heart.
Of course, we also spent precious moments with our adorable babies—a reminder of why we do what we do!
We packed our dinner and clothes and headed into town to stay closer to tomorrow’s early morning meeting near the airport. Depending on traffic, this could be a 3+ hour drive from Vipingo, so staying closer is a practical choice.
Tomorrow, we will meet with Naaem at Contech to discuss additional containers, strategies for building the vocational center on this property, and other expansion plans. These projects bring new fundraising goals on the Kenyan side, complementing our ongoing work with the Bethany Leadership House in the U.S.
It’s been a full day—Bible study, planning, meetings, and sweet time with the children. I’m still praying for more sleep, but last night was a little better! Each day reminds me of God’s provision, His timing, and the importance of rest, planning, and focused action in ministry.
